In the Add Citation box, you can click on the bubble for a cited item and then click “Open in My Library” (or another library name) to view the item in Zotero. Press Enter again to insert the citation and close the Add Citation box. The item will appear in the dialog box in a shaded bubble. Select an item by clicking on it or by pressing Enter when it is highlighted. Items you have already cited in the document will be shown at the top of the list under “Cited”. Matching items will be shown for each library in your Zotero database (My Library and any groups you are part of). Matching items will instantly appear below the dialog box. Start typing part of a title, the last names of one or more authors, and/or a year in the dialog box. The citation dialog is used to select items from your Zotero library and create a citation. Use the drop-down menu to select documents rights, including edit, comment, and view. Here click on the “Get shareable link” button. Open up the document and click on the “Share” button at the top-right corner. You can also share a Google Docs document without associating your Google account name and information with it. In the below screenshot, you can see that I am showing up as an anonymous squirrel on my document when I access it from an incognito window. You can also use Ctrl+Shift+N or Ctrl+Shift+P keyboard shortcuts to fire up an incognito window. Usually, the incognito window option is listed in the main menu of most browsers. As the incognito window is isolated from your current browsing session and doesn’t use stored cookies, it will open the document without logging in with your Google account. However, an easier way to do this is to simply use an incognito window to access the document. You will then appear as an anonymous animal icon instead. Therefore, all you need to do is log out of your Google account and open up the document link afterward. There is no built-in option to hide this information, but if you log out of your Google account then Google won’t be able to attribute your profile information. Google uses your Google account information to recognize you and show your profile icon in the list of editors at the top.
